J.L. Herrera is a novelist (winner of the Vic FAW Alan Marshall Award for novel manuscripts ‘Old Postcards’ and ‘The Vigil’, and the Michele Turner Award for ‘The Set of the Sun’), a short story writer (winner of the Max Harris Award with ‘The Fishing Trip’ and ‘Old Spy Wants to Come Home’, etc) and poet (winner of the Gwen Harwood Prize with ‘Old Car Bodies’, the Q’ld FAW poetry prize with ‘Seen from a Train’, etc) and is currently president and competition secretary for the Tasmanian FAW.
